Football Club Ruurlo
On the first of April 1932 a football club was founded in Ruurlo, a village in the east of the Netherlands with 8500 inhabitants. Under the Dutch name Voetbal Vereniging Ruurlo (VV Ruurlo), they became energetic from that moment. The football sport was based on amateur level, however with changing successes. At the moment, VV Ruurlo counts more than 700 members and plays with 8 senior teams and 25 youth teams in official competitions. Especially the youth department is still growing. The first senior team plays at amateur level with region clubs in the third amateur division. With sports park ’t Rikkelder we have our own accommodation, which is also utilized by other sport clubs and schools from Ruurlo.
The emblem of VV Ruurlo, the greyhound, was chosen as the official logo of Vv Ruurlo by the club’s founders. The logo derived from the weapon of the town Ruurlo, which bears this weapon since the year 1816. Besides football, we offer our (youth) members many possibilities of recreation and activities. Within VV Ruurlo we rely on a large group of volunteers who make it possible to organize various activities.
A special event is the annual Karel Stegeman Youth Tournament for teams under 19 years. It is one of the seven large international youth football tournaments which are held in our region yearly. This tournament annually takes place during Whitsun. Known clubs from various European countries as Werder Bremen, FC Dynamo Kiev, Aberdeen FC, IFK Göteborg, PSV Eindhoven and Vasas Budapest have played on the tournament in the past. The tournament has about 6.000 spectators from the entire region. Visit the tournament’s official website for more information at
